IncuBusLDN – An Alternative University

Start-Ups - Posted: October 18, 2013

IncuBus Ventures Logo

I'm leaving the comfortable world of work.  I'm starting my own business. Hopefully creating a future for myself.

So what am doing? I'm buying a bus! Turning it into a startup incubator, building the next generation of startups and teaching the future generations to code. Yes you read that right! The incubator will be based on a double decker London bus. It is targeted at the 16-24 age range as an alternative to University. With university fees rising and a lack of jobs upon graduation, more and more school and college leavers are going straight into entry level jobs or creating jobs for themselves by starting their own businesses. There is a lot of young talent out there and we want to give them the support to successfully build their own businesses.

IncuBusLDN holds up to 30 entrepreneurs a year. The first  6 months of the programme places individuals in local startups where they can gain experience of working in a startup and learn new skills. The second 6 months is based on the bus, building a startup. The programme offers our teams mentors, workshops and introductions to investors.

The top floor's being converted into workspace with all the mod-cons you'd expect from an office. Whilst the bottom floor is being converted into event space. Here we will host our workshops from some of our great partners, many entrepreneurial events and even host pop up shops. We will also be travelling to local schools in partnership with Code Club to help teach the next generation of youngsters to code, a skill which is more & more valuable in this day and age, but is still not taught in schools.

The space will be equipped with the latest tech to ensure some of the fastest mobile broadband in the world. This will be available for teams on the bus, but also visitors to the bus.

We are based slap bang in the middle of London's Tech City. Red Market in Shoreditch is a vibrant summer market and with the hive of activity around our bus, it'll be a warm, cosy place to be in the winter too!

We're looking forward to a January launch and if you're interested in applying check us out on AngelList here: http://goo.gl/kE8t0S

Can you help us?

Sure you can! Here's what we need:

We're always looking for potential sponsors for this project and we have lots of options (Including ads on the side of the bus!).

We're also looking for investors to help us further fund this project and really build on the momentum.

If you'd be interested in either sponsorship or investment, or can intro us to someone who might be, then please email me at: rishi@incubusldn.com
