Pete Cashmore is a social media blogger and the founder of Mashable, He started Mashable in Fall 2004 while he was working as a web technology, the website known as a social media guide.
He also writes a weekly column about social media and networking for CNN.com, in a move to make the site more featured around more popular technology.

Pete Cashmore's Twitter page, @mashable, is one of Twitter's 40 most-followed pages, with 1.7 million followers, thanks to its inclusion on the Suggested User List, an editorially hand-selected guide from Twitter. INQ Mobile named pete as the most influential Briton and most influential Twitter user in the world on 2009.
The site serves over 10 million monthly unique readers and employs 15 full time staff. It has more than 50 regular guest contributors and reports $166,000 per month.
Pete Cashmore who launched Mashable from his home in Aberdeen in late 2005 said in an interview with Oliver Lindberg(Associate editor at .net magazine) that he was looking for the next big thing of his generation and the internet provided tons of opportunities.
“I realised that by going purely web based I could grow something,” he recalls. “I started writing and thought I was going to start a web company. I didn’t realise that the writing would be the company. People started reading it, and over the year I saw the traffic picking up. Mashable was one of the top 10 blogs within a year and a half. Then we started getting advertising at a stage when everyone was saying that blogs won’t make any money. I think our first ad was UserPlane, a chat company that paid around $3,000 for a month, and I thought that was phenomenal.”
