Imagine genuinely looking forward to visiting your office every workday. It would be a shame if, right now, you can only imagine it, given how much time you spend at your workplace.
It's no wonder that dislike of the workplace has been blamed for an array of health problems, from weight gain to difficulty sleeping. Fortunately, even if you don't always love your job, you can tinker with the office itself to leave yourself with a warmer, fuzzier feeling.
Make your office a community, too
If you form strong social ties with your co-workers, this can bode well for your passion and productivity, research mentioned by HuffPost suggests.
You can also thank research for the suggestion that making friends at work could possibly even strengthen your immune system. Those friends don't necessarily need to be in your particular department, either - it's all just about attracting trustworthy people and keeping them close.
Let there be light - more natural light, that is
According to research from the Colorado-based National Renewable Energy Laboratory and shared by Entrepreneur VIP contributor John Rampton, people working in natural lighting remained distraction-free for 15% longer than those people working strictly in artificial lighting.
That's a strong incentive to rearrange desks and seating and make sure everyone gets a few sunrays.
Recycle and reuse
It's easy to recycle and do that little bit for the environment - provided, that is, your office has facilities conducive to this. If not, you don't have to struggle to find a new office that does. The serviced offices in the City of London from BE Offices, for example, come with recycling points in good supply.
However, train your staff to make sure items they put in recycling are clean first. In Singapore, 40% of recycled waste becomes contaminated due to unclean items, a CNBC article notes.
Keep your office clean, tidy and orderly
While you don't necessarily have to de-clutter entirely in order to keep your productivity at its sharpest, you should still clean and organise your workspace. Otherwise, you could too easily misplace items you then have to spend extra time searching for.
Look after yourself
If you feel like you only ever snap back into your actual self once you've left the office, that would be a bad sign - as, biologically, you are the same person at both work and home, obviously. Therefore, looking after yourself in both places can be good for your health in the workplace.
To that end, while at the office, remember to take a proper lunch break, perhaps including a walk outside, and eat healthy food.
Think positive
Yes, "think positive" reads like a vague, fluffy mantra from a self-help guru, but it can actually be easy to put into practice once you know how. You could start by showing your gratitude to your staff for their hard work or even simply saying "hi" and smiling more often.
More adventurous ideas include playing games and celebrating birthdays - not just your own, either - in the office.
