About a year and a half ago my colleague George Johnston and I decided we wanted to take our passion for startups and create an incubator for early stage startups. We wanted to create something different, an incubator focused on developing the people as much as their business.
The majority of offices are dull and unproductive. What if there was a way for more flexible working? Why can't we take our startups to investors and customers across the country? How about big events across Europe?
The solution? A double decker bus!
We raised money, converted it into a workspace from where we could run the incubator and for going!
One question we get all the time was 'what about Internet?' after all it is the most important need of every professional these days.
As we looked for solutions we soon realised this wouldn't be as easy as easy as originally planned.
We spoke to a few of the UK's biggest Telcos. We didn't have much luck with getting a fast mobile solution. That's until we spoke to O2.
They provided us with a 4G pop up hotspot. Yes that means we can access super fast Internet on our bus, even when moving to events.
Soon after we moved into Camden where we set up with Camden Market who provide 100 Mbps wifi to anyone in Camden Market.
This means whether home or away we're connected. And with more initiatives like hooking up the whole of Camden Market with super fast broadband or a 4G+ hotspot like O2's, working just as effectively outside of the office (on the move) is just as fast and effective as working in the office.
