Andrew presents his struggles and downfall in life as his stepping stone to success. An early business with the outcomes looking blissful as it attracts over 240,000 unique visitors around the Globe. Such signs are good for the future, as it encourages Andrew to pursue his dreams.
Andrew, welcome to YHP...How are you doing?
How did you come up with the funkified title, “Lyved”?
Well my aim with the site is to have readers be inspired and implement the ideas and tips we provided and by doing so have them look back and feel that they have lived life. Now lived.com was not an available domain so I switched things up a bit and through in a “y.”
How did you start such a “Blogzine”?
It was very simple. I purchased a domain name, some hosting, and used wordpress to power the site. Growing a blogzine is the hard part.
Why did you choose to dwell on giving advice and inspirational thoughts?
It’s an interesting approach from a youngster as yourself.
I felt that there was a lot of negativity out there and I wanted to counteract it and restore hope for a lot of people.
What are your aims regarding Lyved?
I want to turn it into a multi-author blog much like HuffingtonPost.com and inspire millions more people.
Where do you see Lyved going in the next five years?
In five years I see its audience and influence growing drastically. I know that it will be mentioned more in mainstream media and cover many more topics from unique voices from around the globe.
Everything in life has it advantages, and disadvantages. What are yours regarding this business?
The advantages definitely outweigh the disadvantages. Lyved has brought me so many opportunities to move into different industries and I’ve been able to meet so many amazing people. There are many more advantages and some I don’t even know about yet.
The only really big disadvantage to running Lyved is that I often have to write the articles, maintain the backend of the site (databases, software, etc) and also promote the site at the same time. Most of the time I’d rather just focus on my writing.
Your past, your life, your drawbacks are shown to have made you what are you are this day. What are your words and actions to overcome such things?
I guess I’m a prime example for the saying; “everything happens for a reason.” When I was younger, I never understood why I had to grow up poor, without a father, sick, and learning disabled. However, now I’m so thankful I went through all of that.
If internet didn’t come to existent, how else do you think “Lyved” would have come to life?
Interesting question! Well, the essence of Lyved would have probably come through a book years down the road in my life. I always knew that I wanted to write a book that shared the lessons I learned from my struggles and successes. But thanks to the internet and Lyved, I’m actually working on the book now.
Maintaining such a site can be time consuming, however does it leave you with time for family and friends?
Along with Lyved, I work part-time at night as well so my time is very limited. However, I try my best to do most of the work on Lyved while my family is working as if it were a regular job. Family is extremely important to me so I make certain I make time.
Making a site requires some expertise knowledge, however is the necessity of education – a degree, an essential factor that any successful entrepreneur must obtain?
No, not at all. Not having a degree does not guarantee failure and having a degree does not guarantee success. However, knowledge is extremely important. You can learn in classroom, on your own through books, magazines, websites, and best of all you can learn through experience.
Do you have any advice for those who are seeking to be within the same position as yourself?
Adversity and persistence is vital. Adversity is there to block those who are committed enough to a goal and persistence is a key for someone wanting to overcome an adversity.
Any advice for anybody starting a business of any kind?
Don’t chase money! I did it for years and it always leads to a dead end.
