I recently came across a startup called Signkick. Founded last year by Tobias van Amstel, Sebastiaan Schinkel, Sebastiaan Heijne Signkick make it easy to buy outdoor advertising space. Signkick are my startup of the week.
The platform is a self serve booking platform which allows you to view available spots at various locations across the UK, ranging from billboards to bus shelters. With a minimum requirement of just one it means that small businesses and even individuals can make use of hyperlocal advertising for a tiny cost.
And, they'll even sort out artwork for you if you need, with their in house specialists.
This market is huge and has generally been dominated by large corporations dealing with global outdoor advertising companies on larger campaigns. Now the little guys can get a piece of the action. It's fast, simple and cost effective. That's why they are my startup of the week.
What I find really interesting is that they are working closely with big outdoor media companies to essentially fill their excess space. This way they are innovating in a very old and traditional market, rather than disrupting it per se.
The London based team are starting to make waves and have recently been included as one of the Startup World London finalists. Expect to hear more about Signkick real soon.
