Kevin Hartz, has a knack for backing hit startups.

Entrepreneurs, Start-Ups - Posted: January 11, 2011

Kevin Hartz

Kevin Hartz the Co-Founder of Eventbrite, an online event organisation service, has seen his company grow massively across the globe last year. But this is not his first and only venture, in fact he has backed a number of successful businesses.

Before Eventbrite he founded Xoom, an international money transfer service,  which processed almost $1 billion in money transfers last year.

His first entrepreneurial venture was also a success, ConnectGroup provided high speed broadband to the hotel industry. ConnectGroup was later acquired by Lodgenet for $9.5 million.

A lot of his success has also come from being an early stage investor in some of the worlds biggest companies, most notably Paypal. Other startups that he has invested in include Flixster, Yammer, Adnectar, TokBox, Friendster and Anonymizer.

He also founded a startup advisory called Youniversity Venture which primarily helps students and first time entrepreneurs. It is a great resource for those looking to start their first business. Maybe this is where he will find his next hit startup!
