Start-Ups - Posted: April 12, 2010

Jamail larkins

Jamail has been flying since he was 12 years old, boosting more than 1,500 hours of flight time and today he runs Larkins Enterprises Inc, an advertising/aviation sales company, the company he founed at the age of 15 with $1,000 from his parents.

He said "I needed a way to pay for the expensive flying lessons, so I decided instead of working for minimum wage I would start my own business."

He became the first and youngest student pilot to solo in this revolutionary certified single-engine aircraft the day after his 16th Birthday.

Larkins' second plane is the Cirrus SR20, a single-engine airplane, which he uses to promote his national Dream-Launch tour. Visiting 46 cities, he speaks to middle and high school students about career opportunities in aviation as well as planning for success.

Jamail acted as the National Spokesman for Careers in Aviation during his college career at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. During this time, Jamail founded the DreamLaunch Tour. A nationwide tour designed to educate students about their career opportunities in the aviation industry.

He has also been featured by USA Today, Parade Magazine, Black Enterprise, CNN American Morning, Fox News Channel, The Late Show with David Letterman and Inc. Magazine, among others.
