Allyson is the 24 years old, president, co-founder and chief chef for Wonderland Bakery and Wonderland Bakery Adventure – Wonderland Bakery is a unique retail bakery concept specializing in cupcakes, cookies, cakes, artistic desserts and whimsical gifts.
Born and raised in Newport Beach, California, Allyson started cooking and baking at age five, was named The Best Young Chef in America at age 17.
“It began with collecting cookbooks, watching food shows and creating food combinations and concoctions,” said Ames. “I was learning techniques, pairing foods, blending flavors, presenting my creations, eating and having fun. I now can reflect on this time and understand I was beginning to connect to my life passion – expressing myself through the creativity of food.”
She has created cookies for President Barack Obama’s inauguration day events, baked the reigning “Best Gingerbread Cookie” according to Whoopi Goldberg and “The View” and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger honoured Wonderland Bakery with the 2008 California Business of the Year Award.
Ames is often called on to perform her artistic culinary talents for a variety of signature events including the Emmy Awards, Grammy Awards and movie premieres.
In late 2009, Ames and Wonderland Bakery will commence an expansion plan that includes 50 whimsically designed in-store, point-of-sale displays that will be placed in retail locations from coast to coast, including international airports.
She is also in negotiations to host a children's cooking show; internationally license the Wonderland Bakery brand of toys, games and products; and open five Wonderland Bakery Wonderlicious party, cafe and retail stores in major markets, with the first stores in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New York.
