Cyber criminals have targeted the Guardian's Jobs website in what the company is describing as a 'sophisticated and deliberate' hack.

Users of the job listings board received an email informing them of the cyber attack which had breached "the security of the data on the site".

The Guardian said that the incident had been reported to the police, and that the hack was being investigated by the central e-crime unit at New Scotland Yard.
