Both the PS3 and Xbox 360 are being tipped for imminent price cuts, according to reports from a wide range of sources. Okay, we know that console price cut rumours are hardly a rarity in this game – in fact, we’ve been expecting this PS3 price cut for nigh on a year – but there’s better reason than ever to expect a serious shake up in the console market.

As you’ve probably heard if you’ve seen any PlayStation related news in the past six months, Sony is reckoned to be releasing a new version of the PS3. As Sony likes to do with so many of its games gadgets, it’s getting some fat shaved off its chassis to make a new slim model. Although Sony has been keeping mum, the PS3 Slim rumour has been shared and spread by many people close to the source, the latest being a French retailer who’s let slip that “New console, new price” is Sony’s next strategy.
