YHP Interviews Fabio Vilhete, founder of Flybeyondfuture

Fashion, Interviews - Posted: August 13, 2009

YHP caught up with Fabio Vihete to ask about the Launch of his clothing line, Flybeyondfuture.

The concept behind the Fly beyond Future® brand is If you know you look fly when you go out F.B.F is just the thing for you, Colourful and creative designs will give you that edge that will have onlookers gazing at you.

Fabio says F.B.F already does half of the work by bringing people’s attention to you, your sex appeal and charisma should do the rest.

How are you today Fabio? Welcome to YHP.

fabio4

I feel real exquisite today but i feel kind of tired still, it was my birthday two days and I was up since 5 o’clock in the morning sorting out F.B.F

So Fabio, Kindly give us some background information about yourself?

Well my government name is Fabio Vilhete but people call me by my Alias Flyboi F but as of today you can call me Mr F.B.F. A little bit about myself, I was born in Portugal and now live in north London; I’m 20 years old and currently going off to Manchester Met Uni to go study a BA honours in drama and English

What has been the major complain so far?

No complaints from my part, everything is a learning curve so I’ve just been learning as I go along

Fabio you just recently launched the line? How does it feel?

fabio

I feel really good, launched two days ago, august the 11th on my birthday, everything went smoothly, and people are showing a real interest and a lot of love so I’m happy. The most important thing to remember is Rome wasn’t built in a day so I’m going to take my time whilst crafting my empire!

What is the concept behind your brand?

I’m a BIG Hip-Hop fan so I wanted to make something that reflects my appreciation for Hip-Hop whilst also implementing our unique London culture to the fashion line

What makes your clothing line relevant to today’s society?

In London today, it’s more about house music than anything else, funky house to be specific, in the past four years it’s took London by storm. It’s all about having bright colours and catchy T shirts, me, myself being a big fan of funky house thought that I could implement my love of the genre into my designs to give it that competitive edge

Fabio, I know you've seen so much people doing what you're doing, what makes your designs unique, what will make me buy your designs?

fabio1

Well 1stly the designers that I have are a cut above the rest. One has done a lot of A* celebrity work, doing mixtape covers for the likes of Kanye West, Dj Kurupt, Keri Hilson, Jae Millz etc and has done work for the government, adverts for Nokia, so his standard of work is beyond the future lol. My other designer is a multitalented vector extraordinaire, he makes websites, blackberry themes, he’s a Photoshop and Dreamweaver nerd, so between the two I am more than confident in their skills to come up with something catchy and original

How did you raise money for your business?

One thing that you quickly learn about business is no one is willing to help you, especially when it comes to money, they all talk a lot but when it actually comes down to it, the people who you thought would be there for you are nowhere to be seen but never the less I had to fund everything myself, the only people I can that help me were my older cousin Igor and my brother Ed who gave me the funds to put towards the business which successfully helped me get the project finished

Are you looking to do any shows?

It’s early stages but tomorrow I do have a meeting about maybe possibly doing a fashion show, so hopefully that should go well

Who are your competitors? (Customer profile)

Competitors? What are those? I don’t know about anyone else’s products but my own, I personally believe that when you watch someone else’s stuff to much you’ll try and keep up with them and it kind of drains your creative energy, I’m in competition with myself

Who are your target markets?

16 – 25 year olds

What are your advertising strategy?(do you use any social networking sites to promote your brand).

Facebook, myspace and twitter are the main ones I’m utilizing at the moment

What fabrics do you mostly deal with?

fabio2

That would be telling, can’t go around revealing everything

Will you be making your collection to season?

Something I’m contemplating as we speak, only time will tell

How d0 you get your primary research e.g. in the streets, internet, books, magazines?

All of the above, these past 7 months I’ve just been observing, listening, reading, so on and so on

Who are your favourite young entrepreneurs at this moment?

A guy called Corey Young, personal friend, I get a lot of inspiration from and insight from him

What is the most important lesson you’ve learnt so far?

fabio3

Expect the worse and hope for the best!

What has been the best advices you been given so far?

Honestly ask yourself, would you buy (buy your own product)

Who is your role model/influence? Or do you read any books that have helped you that you would like to recommend to young entrepreneurs?

I get inspiration from so many things but I must say my mum being my biggest inspiration, my niece and nephews, Kanye West, we would be here until tomorrow if named them all (Laughter).

What are your advices for Aspiring young entrepreneurs?

Take a chance on yourself, the worse that can happen is no one else will

So what’s next for Fly Beyond Future?

The next thing for us is getting our name out there and getting recognised by the mainstream
